Parents are their children’s first and lifelong teachers, and supporting parents in this role is very important.  Parents who are actively engaged in their children’s education, beginning at birth, have a great impact on their child’s early development and preparation for school.

ChildCareGroup’s Born Learning Parent Engagement Program is a nationally-accredited, comprehensive home visiting program for families in vulnerable neighborhoods in Pleasant Grove/Dixon Circle, Bachman Lake, West Dallas, Mesquite, Balch Springs and East Plano. Utilizing the rigorous, evidence-based Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum model, Born Learning serves more than 500 children (ages 0-5) and parents each year. We teach parents to be their child’s first and lifelong teacher and to understand the individual developmental needs of their children.

At weekly or bi-weekly home visits, Parent Educators model positive parenting skills and educate parents about their child’s developmental level, next milestones and activities to encourage growth. Our home visiting program exemplifies the Two Generation Approach, as it addresses the needs of the whole family – the early development of children and the economic, health and social progress of their parents.  Through this program model the Parent Educator helps guide the development and progress of the whole family.  To build social capital among participating families, Parent Educators host monthly Group Connection events at museums, park, the zoo, and other locations to provide educational resources, family socialization and networking opportunities for all families in the program.
